A John Waters Christmas to make a tour stop at Florida Theatre

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – John Waters embarked on his annual Christmas tour and it will make a stop at Florida Theatre, on Dec. 15. The tour began on Nov. 19 at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and it will conclude at Soundstage in Baltimore.
Waters’ began making 8 millimeter films, when he was teenager. He was inspired by Igmar Bergman, Walt Disney, Jean-Luc Godard, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Russ Meyer and Andy Warhol. His filmography includes: “Hag in a Black Leather Jacket” (1964), “Roman Candles” (1966), “Eat Your Makeup” (1967), “Mondo Trasho” (1969), “Multiple Maniacs” (1970),”The Diane Linkletter Story” (1970), “Pink Flamingos” (1972), “Female Trouble” (1974), “Desperate Living” (1977)”, “Polyester” (1981), “Hairspray” (1988), “Cry-Baby” (1990), “Serial Mom” (1994), “Pecker” (1998), “Cecil B. Demented” (2000) and “A Dirty Shame” (2004).
In front of the camera, Waters co-starred in the following films: “Blood Feast 2: All You Can Eat”, “Seed of Chucky”, “Something Wild” and “Sweet and Lowdown”. On television, he was appeared on: “John Waters Presents Movies That Will Corrupt You”, “My Name Is Earl”, “Saturday Night Live” and “Til Death Do Us Part”. He has performed voiceovers on “The Simpsons”, “Fish Hooks” and more.
Galleries around the world have featured Waters’ photography including: Los Angeles’ Gagosian Gallery, New York’s The Marianne Boesky Gallery, Orange County Museum of Art, Switzerland’s Fotomuseum Winterthur, The Andy Warhol Museum, The New York Museum of Contemporary Art, and Zurich’s de Pury & Luxembourg Gallery. His works have been published in books including: “Director’s Cut”, “John Waters: Change of Life” and “Unwatchable”.
Literary works by Waters include: “Art: A Sex Book”, “Carsick”, “Crackpot”, “Female Trouble and Multiple Maniacs”, “Hairspray” and “Pink Flamingos and Other Trash”, “Role Models”, “Shock Value”. “Art: A Sex Book” was co-written by art critic, Bruce Hainley. “Role Models” earned bestseller accomplishments on three publications: Los Angeles Times, New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle. “Carsick” was the last book he wrote and it was about him hitchhiking from Baltimore to San Francisco in the spring of 2012. Two books, “LIARMOUTH!” and “Mr. Know It All”, will be released in the future.
On the stage—Waters has performed spoken-word lecture, “This Filthy World”, in colleges, comedy clubs, film festivals and museums. They include: Bonnaroo, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Sydney Opera House and Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival.
