NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Blair Baker is a stand-up comedian and resides in New Smyrna Beach.
Baker had always wanted to pursue stand-up comedy. She remembered how her first time performing took place at a bar. During an open mic and after a few beers, she signed up to perform. She stated she did well for her first attempt, even though she was nervous and blushed. She compared the experience to having a conversation with a close friend and telling her usual jokes.
As of late, Baker listens to stand-up comedy specials and record albums on Pandora. She hears an array of comedians and her current favorite is John Mulaney’s “John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid”.
For Blair’s favorite television show, she enjoyed watching “Don’t Trust The B---- in Apartment 23”. She considered it to be one of the best comedy shows ever and could watch it on repeat. Her favorite comedy film was “Division III: Football’s Finest”. She mentioned how Andy Dick was amazing in the film.
If Baker can go on tour with any comedian, she chose Jim Norton. Her reasoning was he had the right amount of filth, he was “super funny” and visualized him as being a great wingman. In a comedy roast, she chose the following comedians from the past and present to roast her: Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, Doug Benson, Bill Burr and Joan Rivers. She called them all amazing and pictured them all getting intoxicated, afterwards.
Outside of stand-up comedy—Blair hopes to host her own podcast because she states she talks a lot, she knows many interesting people and how it can be fun times. She can picture herself writing for a comedy show too because she writes constantly. Plus, she cites it can be a great experience. In the next five years, she hopes her stand-up comedy becomes bigger and better. She hopes to never grow tiresome, believes it is her calling in life and vows to never give up.
After a set is over—Baker wants to inspire her audience to do whatever makes them happy, as long as it does not break the law or hurt anyone. She also wants to encourage them to live their lives to the fullest and have a good time as well.
