Comedy Club of Jacksonville to welcome Donnell Rawlings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Donnell Rawlings will be performing four stand-up comedy sets at Comedy Club of Jacksonville, from Dec. 29 through Dec. 31. On Dec. 29, he will perform at 8:30 p.m. On Dec. 30, he is set to perform twice. Once at 8 p.m. and the other at 10:30 p.m. His final performance will be at 8 p.m., on Dec. 31. He is an actor, comedian, director, producer and writer.
Born and raised in the U.S.’s capitol, Rawlings served in the Air Force. After serving, he returned home and became involved with the comedy scene. After being known as the official heckler of the scene, another comedian dared him to bring his act to the stage. Within six months, he was on HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam”. He was the resident funny guy on “The Ricki Lake Show” too.
Rawlings other television credits include: “Law & Order”, “The Corner”, “Third Watch”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, “Chappelle’s Show”, “Midnight Spike’s House Brew”, “From Ashy to Classy”, “The Wire”, “Generation Now: Top 25 Under 25”, “In the Flow with Affion Crockett”, “Black Jack”, “Dr. Trill Presents the Take It Face Seminar”, “Guy Court”, “Step 9”, “Black Dynamite”, “Black Jesus” and the upcoming “Hollyweed”.
While “Chappelle’s Show” was on the air, Rawlings portrayed many characters. Co-creators, Dave Chappelle and Neal Brennan, sought him to be writer and main character. He would go onto host “The Lost Episodes” of the series.
Motion pictures Rawlings co-starred in were: “Fever”, “Kings County”, “Brotherly Love”, “Spider-Man 2”, “Blood of a Champion”,
“Fifty Pills”, “Car Babes”, “Goodbye Baby”, “Twisted Fortune”, “Legacy”, “Last Day of Summer”, “Something Like a Business”, “The Rise and Fall of John Tesoro”, “Laughing to the Bank”, “TubbyMan”, “Percentage”, “The 30 Year Old Bris”, “American Dirtbags” and “The Last Film Festival”.
As a writer, Rawlings wrote for television series documentaries and television series. He wrote one episode for “1st Amendment Stand Up” and “The Bad Boys of Comedy” each. He also wrote two episodes of “BET’s Comicview”. He wrote for the television short, “Dr. Trill Presents the take It Face Seminar”. He was the co-producer of the short film, “Life After Death”.
Tickets to see the stand-up showcases of Rawlings are $25 for very important person (VIP) front row, general and VIP seats. The best seats are $35 each. The ticket prices exclude taxes. The content and language of all three nights are rated R.
