Finn's Beachside Pub kicks off Indie Artists Night competition

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Indie Artists Night returned to Finn’s Beachside Pub, on Feb. 10. It was hosted by Tony Paul Neal. Surf 97.3, S.R. Perrott, Inc. and Coors Light sponsored the event. The opening round featured six set of competitors: Doug Rexroth, Elliott Kayne featuring Melissa Trumble, Dylan Morrison, Lori Gringsby, Amy Denson, Mark Chorico and Jesse Daniel Band (Jesse Daniel and Daniel T. Pray).
“The Dog Song”, “Home Sweet Home”, “I’m Right Here”, “Down” and “The Pharmacy Corner War” were part of Neal’s opening performance.
Rexroth thanked everyone involved with the competition and stated he was from Daytona Beach, Fla. and opened with “I’m Country”. He also performed “In The Country”, “Slow Livin’”, “Gone Fishin’” and “The Loner”.
Kayne was assisted by Trumble and showcased styles ranging from jazz to rock. For his set, he included the following: “I Dream Of You”, “Roses and Romance”, “All The Way”, “Goes By So Fast”, “You’re To Blame” and “Sleep When I’m Dead”.
Grigsby’ started with “No Wonder”. Prior to “Capsize”, Neal requested her to play “Angel From Montgomery”. She declined because it was written by a friend of hers. She continued with “Listen to my Heart”, “There but for the Grace” and “Stay”.
Morrison began with “Down By The Road”, “Shine” and “Show Me The Way”. Prior to “Sweet Georgia”, he mentioned it was a song about a love interest. He finished with “Fade Away”.
Denson’s showcase began with “One Day You’ll Know”. Then, she mentioned how “Daddy’s Hands” was written after her father’s passing. “Silence, Speak” and “Eyes of Love” followed.
Chorico’s began his portion by paying homage to his in-law’s 60th wedding anniversary and performed “May I Have This Dance”. “Mason Jar”, “Black Penny” and “Wishing For The Perfect Life” followed.
Daniel provided backup vocals, played the harmonica and drums. Pray sang the lead vocals and strummed the guitar. Throughout their portion, Pray spoke of how the songs told a story of one man’s life. The songs included: “Across The Ocean”, “Memories”, “Hello”, “Ride Away”, “Off on the Road”, “Be My Friend”, “Rock Away My Troubles” and “The History of Rock and Roll” were part of Jesse Daniel Band’s set.
Denson, Chorico and Jesse Daniel Band advanced to the final round and scheduled to take place on April 27. A case of Coors Light was presented to Pray, for the most points obtained on behalf of Jesse Daniel Band.
