Gold Plated Dreams Tour to become reality at Florida Theatre

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Anjelah Johnson’s Gold Plated Dreams Tour will soon come true at Florida Theatre, on April 29. It will feature her, her alter-ego known as Bon Qui Qui and Group 1 Crew. The expedition is set to begin on April 16 at Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, Miss. and conclude on May 3 at Warner Theatre in Washington.
Stand-up comedy, television, film, voiceover and commercials are what Johnson is known for. Her roots are from San Jose, Calif. For the tour, she will perform several of her stand-up comedy routines including, “Nail Salon” and “Tia Mary”. She is part of the Atlantic Records roster. On Jan. 12, she will partake in the “MADtv 20th Anniversary Reunion” special. It will air on the CW network at 8/7 Central. Her stand-up comedy special, “Not Fancy”, is currently streaming on Netflix.

Johnson’s character, Bon Qui Qui, debuted on FOX’s MADtv. While on the television show, she worked at King Burger. After the show ended, she worked odd jobs and was released from all of her job duties. However, she knew her calling was in hip-hop. She pursued her career in the music industry, released a single called “I’ma Cut You”, two more songs soon followed including “No Boyfren”, two music videos went viral and released the album titled “Gold Plated Dreams”.

Jose “Manwell” Reyes and Sarah Sandoz are the vocalists and rappers, Lance Herring is the guitarist, Loren “Snoopy” Clark is the bassist and Pedro Latorre is the drummer of Group 1 Crew. Hailing from Los Angeles, they are part of Warner Brothers and Word Records’ roster. They will be promoting their EP, “#Faster”. It features: “The Wonder Years” featuring Morian Peters and Glory, “A Little Closer”, “Heaven” featuring “Jonathan Thulin, “Everyday is a Miracle” featuring Rachel Lampa and “Psalm 23+”.

Sareth Ney is the entertainment journalist for A Quarter and Dream Pictures.
