JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kano Williams started his stand-up comedy career by managing stand-up comedians. He saw how much fun they were having, was bitten by the comedy bug and was inspired to perform on stage.
When Williams first performed stand-up comedy—he recalled the feeling as amazing because he made everyone laugh. The laughter fueled him and it provided him the opportunity to say anything he wanted to say, as long as it was funny.
While performing on stage, Williams’ material consists of his views on life and relationships. His comedy career has taken him outside of Fla. and towards the west coast. He has performed at J. Anthony Brown’s The J Spot Comedy Club, in Los Angeles. In 2016, he performed at Sareth-Fest Music and Comedy Festival in Pueblo, Colo. Comedy veterans who taught Williams the art of stand-up comedy include: Hope Flood, Tony Rawlings, Comedian Shane, Michael Howard and Greg Dean.
Past and present comedians Williams would like to get roasted by include: Patrice O’Neal, Kevin Hart, D.L. Hughley, Bernie Mac. He chose Hart because it was not the way society portrayed him. It was because Williams liked his stand-up. He stated Hughley was wonderful and how many people overlooked him.
If Williams could go on tour with any comedian, he chose Hart. He compared him to Floyd Mayweather because of his work ethic. He stated how Hart was in three or four films, within a year.
Comedy specials and albums he enjoyed were: O’Neal’s “Elephant in the Room”, anything by Eddie Murphy, Katt Williams’ “The Pimp Chronicles: Pt. I” and “The Original Kings of Comedy”. Kano Williams’ favorite sitcoms were “Friends”, “Martin” and “Seinfeld”. He stated how the content of the show, “Martin”, was still relevant today as it had been when it was still on the air. Other forms of comedy Williams would like to venture off into would be acting. He stated performing comedy on screen and on stage was completely different.
In the next five years, Kano Williams wants to reach Hart’s level of comedy and take his place. On social networking sites, Kano Williams can be found on Facebook. His YouTube channel includes one film, “He Follows”. However, he can be seen starring and co-starring in more motion pictures. One is titled, "It’s All Because of Jesus”. With fellow Smoke Entertainment comedian, Smitty Johnson, they have a live talk show called “Smitty Kano”.
