Out of Bounds Comedy Festival opens submissions

AUSTIN, Texas – Out of Bounds Comedy Festival is accepting submissions and takes place during Labor Day weekend, from Aug. 29 through Sept. 4.
Those chosen to perform will receive: performer badge, deep discount for festival badge, hotel discount, airport ride, trading cards, daily parties, day trips and OoB Golf. If the performer badge is shown at the box office, they will be added to the list of unclaimed seats to see a show. The deep discount badge for festival badge will provide the opportunity to see every show. Hotel discount will be applied for one located in downtown. Airport ride will be offered to those flying from out of town to Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. The trading cards features the photo of the comedian, in a 10 pack of cards and are $10 each. Daily party gains access to parties happening with drink discounts. Day trips include transportation to Barton Springs, Salt Lick BBQ and places throughout the city. OoB golf is miniature golf with free beer, crazy characters, takes place on Sept. 3 and winner receives the “Ridiculous Jacket”.
Improv, sketch and variety receives one or two performances at Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. It depends on the preference and availability. There will be two or three stand-up performances for those accepted. They will be five to 10 minutes each. At times, there will be 15 minute slots available.
Submission fee for early bird registration is $35 for most acts at Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. It costs $15 for one person and/or two. The deadline is Feb. 28. The regular registration fee is $45 for most acts. It costs $25 for solo or duo. They are accepted from March 1 through March 31.

In 2002, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival was founded by Jeremy Sweetlamb. In 2004-2005, Mike D’Alonzo and Shannon McCormick took over as producers. From 2006-2008, Sweetlamb returned to produce with McCormick. McCormick left in 2009 to be part of the board of directors. In the same year—Dave Buckman, Roy Janik and Kareem Badr were added as producers. Joe Bolden was named the fifth producer, in 2013. Ruby Willman replaced Badr in 2015, as one of the producers. Sweetlamb returned as executive producer and named Ruby Willman, as his successor.
