FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Stoned Vibe’s was one of the acts at the inaugural open jam for the service industry night at Finn’s Beachside Pub, on Sept. 30. Scott Lonker is the vocalist and guitarist, Blake Vanadore is the lead guitarist and backup vocalist, Zack Frutchery is the drummer and Cochise Joseph is the vocalist, guitarist, drummer and plays the bongo for Stoned Vibe’s.
Joseph began the recital by sitting on a bar stool, near the front of the stage. He introduced the song, “Wicked Woman”, and said it was about women who had a negative effect on those around them. As he sang and played his guitar, Lonker assisted him by playing the higher notes. Prior the Joseph singing the second verse, one of his guitar strings snapped. After he noticed the sound was different, he looked down and pushed through it. Throughout the song, Vanadore strummed and placed his fingers on the frets of his guitar to manipulate the sound.
After “Wicked Woman” ended, Joseph addressed the issue about the snapped guitar string. He attempted to fix it and the host, Trey Geddings, attempted to help. Joseph said he would manage. Then, he joked with the audience and asked who wanted to get romantic. After he asked the question, Stoned Vibe’s continued their recital with “Tying Knots”. Vanadore assisted with backup vocals during the chorus, as he played his guitar.
Lonker took center stage, after Joseph exited the venue. As Lonker provided vocals for “With You”, Vandore assisted him with backup vocals, while he played the high notes on his guitar. Joseph returned to the stage during the song, took Lonker’s former position on stage and assisted with the instrumentals. Afterwards, Lonker thanked the audience for their applause.
After Stoned Vibe’s covered Ben Harper’s “Burn One Down”, Frutchery exchanged places with Joseph. Previously, Frutchery had struck the drums for the first four songs and played the bongos for the only song. Joseph made his way to the bongos, walked off stage and searched for his bass. Geddings mentioned there was one on stage, Joseph attempted to play it and noticed it was out of tune. He stuck to the bongos, as Lonker introduced “Chilled”. After the song ended, they closed their showcase with Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So” and Lonker cited he wanted to attempt a song out of their element.
“Summer” was also part of Stoned Vibe’s’ set.
