Singer/Songwriter competition second quarterfinals round at White Lion Restaurant and Lounge

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Amy Hendrickson hosted the second set of the singer/songwriters quarterfinal round at the White Lion Restaurant and Pub, on. Sept. 10. Prior to the start of the competition, two young musicians started the showcase with their rendition of The Black Keys’ “Little Black Submarines”. Afterwards—Hendrickson thanked them both. She thanked the venue and for their assistance with the grand prize. She thanked the judges for volunteering their time, the spectators and the competitors.
Shea Birney, Kensley Stewart, John Birney, Laurel Lee, Ian Losz and Germaine Veronica began the first portion of the competition. “Coffee” and “Weights and Curtains” were part of Shea Birney’s set. “Be My Baby” and “Last Smoke were part of Stewarts’ set. “Flesh Head” and “See You Later” were part of John Birney’s set. “Real Love or Old Ambition” and “Have You Ever” were part of Laurel Lee’s set. “Little Promises” and “She’s Chaos Forever” were part of Losz’ set. “Red Apple and “Five Seven Five” were part of Veronica’s set.
Ty Cowell, Michael Bruns, Katherine Archer, Alex Shakar, Kim Brown, Joe Rocco, Matt Fowler, Aaron Sherman, Mark Cady, Mr. Charlie, Sam “Squid” Wright and Denny Blue performed the last portion of the quarterfinals round.
“Four Minute Mile” and “Santa’s Got A Spy” were part of Cowell’s set. “Its Life” and “Starlght” were part of Bruns’ set. “Mona Lisa” and “Ready To Love” were part of Archer’s set. “Pictures” and “Sunshine” were part of Shakar’s set. “Perfect Stranger” and “Snow Is Falling” were part of Brown’s set. “Had To Turn Around” and “Natural Born Actor” were part of Rocco’s set. “So Afraid” and “Fly” were part of Fowler’s set. “The Wedding Song” and “Underneath The Tree” were part of Sherman’s set. “The Light” and “Ignore” were part of Cady’s set. “Gaze of the Toad” and “Love Somebody” were part of Mr. Charlie’s set. “Long Time” and “Hello Again” were part of Wright’s set. “Like A Tree” and “My Old Dog” were part of Blue’s set.
The singer and songwriters incorporated many instruments including: guitars, banjos, mandolins, harmonicas and tambourines. Some of them brought their own monitors, rather than the sound equipment set up for the competition. The deliberation for the judges was quite difficult and it lasted a while. In the end—Cowell, Blue, Archer, Stewart, Fowler, Brown, Sherman, Shea Birney, John Birney and Lee advanced to the semifinal round on Sept. 17.
