JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - X102.9 Jacksonville’s New Alternative presents The Big Ticket took place at Jacksonville Veteran’s Memorial Arena, on Dec. 1. The lineup included: Mondo Cozmo, New Politics, Saint Motel, Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, Bleachers, Walk The Moon and The Lumineers.
“Chemical Dream”, “Higher”, “Plastic Soul”, “Shine” and “Automatic” were part of Mondo Cozmo’s set. Songster, Joshua Ostrander, told the inspiration of the name of the band. He stated Cozmo was the name of his dog.
“Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)”, “Dignity”, “Fall Into These Arms”, “West End Kids”, “Color Green”, “Just Like Me” and “One Of Us” were part of New Politics’ performance too. Singer, David Boyd, showcased his ability to breakdance. Later on, he stood on the hands of the crowd and he sang.
Saint Motel performed “Puzzle Pieces”, “Move”, “Cold Cold Man”, “Born Again” and “My Type”. During “Destroyer”—A/J Jackson (vocals) leaped down into the photo pit, he stood on the back of the barricade and he sang.
“Fire Escape”, “Canyon Moon”, “High Dive”, “Don’t Speak For Me”, Jack Mannequin’s “Dark Blue”, “Island Radio”, “So Close”, “Shout Out Of A Cannon”, “Cecilia and the Satellite” were also part of Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness’ portion. Inflatable tube men occupied parts of the stage twice. McMahon rode on an inflatable rubber ducky, as the crowd moved him.
“Wild Heart”, “Everybody Lost Somebody”, “I Miss Those Days”, “Rollercoaster”, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ “American Girl”/My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome To The Black Parade”, “I Wanna Get Better” and “Don’t Take The Money” were the songs Bleachers’ played. Jack Antonoff, songwriter of Bleachers, stated they were all from N.J. They loved Jacksonville and joked how they considered moving there.
“Portugal”, “Lisa Baby”, “One Foot”, “Shut Up and Dance”, “Kamikaze”, “Surrender” and “Anna Sun” were all displayed by Walk The Moon. They walked out to Lebo M. and Carmen Twillie’s version of “Circle of Life” from Disney’s “The Lion King”. Members of the crowd erupted with applause, cheers and they sang along to the words too.
“Submarines”, “Flowers in your Hair”, “Ho Hey”, “Cleopatra”, “Gun Song”, “The Dead Sea”, “Charlie Boy”, “Slow it Down”, “Sleep on the Floor”, “Angela”, “Ophelia”, “Big Parade”, “My Eyes”, and “Stubborn Love” were showcased by The Lumineers. Wesley Schultz, vocalist of The Lumineers, spoke of performing Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ “Walls” for Petty. Petty complimented them for their efforts, before he had passed.
