ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – 311 and Matisyahu’s Unity Tour will be arriving at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, on July 26. The trek will begin at Crosssroads in Kansas City, Mo. on July 6. It will conclude at The Masonic in San Francisco, on Aug. 14.
Nick Hexum is the vocalist and guitarist, S.A. Martinez is the vocalist and disc jockey, Tim Mahoney is the guitarist, Chad Sexton is the drummer and P-Nut is the bassist of 311. Their roots are from Omaha, Neb. and currently reside in Los Angeles. They are part of the 311 Records and ATO rosters. They are an alternative rock band with a mixture of rock, rap, reggae and funk. The Unity Tour will be celebrating twelve years.
Since forming in 1990—311 released 10 studio albums, one live album, one greatest hit album and three DVDs. Matisyahu is the vocalist and beatboxer, Time Keiper is the drummer, Stu Boroks is the bassist, keyboardist and music director and Aaron Dugan is the guitarist of Matisyahu. They are a reggae, hip-hop and rock collective. Matisyahu hails from Brooklyn, N.Y.
After performing solo for over a decade, Matisyahu linked up with his bandmates. Dugan was the original guitarist at Stubb’s in Austin, Texas and New York’s improv music scene. Brooks has collaborated with Matisyahu for many years and part of the Dub Trio. Cyro Baptista’s Keiper and Addison Groove Project’s Rob Marscher complete the band. As they perform as a collective each night, no song is similar to any performed prior.
One element remains the same, as Keiper accompanies Matisyahu during his beatboxing. Every arrangement is improvised on the spot.
