JEROME, Ariz. – “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things” book tour will be heading coast-to-coast, starting on Nov. 9. The first stop will be at the City Winery in Nashville, Tenn. It will conclude at the Texas Theater in Dallas, on Nov. 27. The book’s authors are Sarah Jensen (editor, journalist, writer) and Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer). Jensen and Keenan’s friendship spans over 30 years. In those years, the content of “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things” consists of Keenan’s: career trajectory, joys, philosophies, preference of omelets and struggles.
In an interview with The Pulse of Radio, Keenan spoke of how his companionship with Jensen came into fruition. “She met me when I was doing music, which was in high school of course. High school plays, choir, all those performances. She saw me, you know, when I was going into the military, she saw me in all the sports activities that I was involved in, a lot of the poetry that I used to write back in high school, some of the publications that I was involved in back then…so she’s seen all of that progression.”
While on the trek, Keenan will be joined by the following moderators for “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things”: Dino Paredes (Suretone Management) and Mark Brooks (director of “Metalocalypse”) in Tenn., Alex Grey (founder of Chapel of Sacred Mirrors) in N.Y., Roxy Myzal (producer and radio personality at “HardDrive”) in Washington, Alan Cross (music director of 102.1 The Edge) in Toronto, Amanda Danielson (owner of Trattoria Stella and The Franklin/Master Sammelier) in Chicago, Dirk Flanigan (executive chef of Ocean Cut and Il Coniglio and former vocalist of PIGFACE) in Chicago, Paul Barker (Ministry, Lead Into Gold, Puscifer) in Portland, Ore., Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) in Seattle, Laura Milligan (“Mr. Show”) in San Francisco, Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle, Ashes Divide) in Los Angeles, Kimber Lanning (Local First Arizona, Stinkweeds) in Phoenix, Matt Mather (Sommelier at Frasca Food & Wine) in Boulder, Colo. and Steven Drozd (Flaming Lips) in Dallas.
During the “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things” book expedition, Keenan will read excerpts and have discussions about the authorized biography. Along with the reading of excerpts and discussions, there will be a live question and answer (Q&A) session. Every ticket purchased comes with an autographed copy of the book, as well as a Puscifer album. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
