Fla.—Abiotic will performing at five venues in Fla., during the months of April and May. The first stop will be at A&M Theatre on April 8, in Panama City. They will end their tour in a four venue run including Handlebar in Pensacola, Haven Lounge in Orlando, Epic Problem in Tampa and Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale. They will be on tour promoting their upcoming Metal Blade Records release, “Casuistry”. It will be released on April 21.
Travis Bartosek is the vocalist, Johnathan Matos and Matt Mendez are the guitarists, Alex Vazquez is the bassist and Brent Phillips is the drummer of Abiotic.
Abiotic formed in 2010 and made their debut by releasing an EP in 2011, “A Universal Plague”. It would go onto set the stage, since then. “Vermosapien”, the first music video from the EP, earned tens of thousands of views on YouTube and it caught the attention of Metal Blade Records.
Shortly after, Abiotic signed a deal with Metal Blade Records and released their debut album “Symbiosis”. With the record, they were able to regionally and nationally. They went on tour with the likes of Dying Fetus and Exhumed. The album went onto receive positive praises by Terrorizer Magazine, as they called it “a monstrously ferocious first full-length.” Decibel Magazine went onto say it “could eventually help propel some kind of post-djent prog bandwagon.” Matos, Mendez and Vasquez started the band, in the beginning. By years end, Bartosek and Phillips were added to the group. With five members strong, they went into the studio and recorded “Casiusitry”.
As the end of summer 2014 approached—Abiotic seeked acclaimed producer, Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, Wretched, The Contortionist), at Basement Recordings. Matos stated the experience was comfortable, relaxed and was able to explore and create without boundaries. With those qualities, he and the rest of the band were able to put completely trust into King. John Gallagher of Dying Fetus provides additional vocals on “Cast into the Depths” too.
With final result of the album Matos spoke of “Casiustry” and stated, “We wanted to put something together that was more focused and more about composition, create something where every track would captivate listeners in a different way, and make it as dark, melodic, and punishing as possible.”
