JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Adam “DJ Crazy Boy” Madrid is an editor, director and producer for Argyle Forest Films. He is a disc jockey and videographer for A & M Productions and currently resides in Jacksonville. On July 27—the film he was part of, “Uninvited”, was screened twice at Jacksonville Horror Showcase. He was among the horror filmmakers in Jacksonville with their works displayed and both screenings were sold out.
Argyle Forest Films formed when four childhood friends wanted to pursue filmmaking. The four friends were Madrid, Joshua Stadt, Jeremiah Stadt and Michael Geselbracht. They all grew up within walking distance of each other and attended the same schools, from elementary to high school. Madrid recalled meeting up at the Stadt’s parents’ garage. Their ideas would lead them to become award winning filmmakers. Argyle Forest Films could be found on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
“Uninvited” was written for the screen by Joshua Stadt. After being inspired by the film, “Fire in the Sky”, he wanted to scare people with his inspiration. The premise of the film was about a single woman’s life being changed by an unforeseen guest. After onlookers viewed the film, Madrid hoped they leave “freaked out” with their own take of a style which had been done many times before the film. The trailer used Chase Holfelder’s cover of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” and it could be viewed by clicking here.
Madrid’s favorite horror films are: “Demons”, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” (1984), “Night of the Living Dead”, “Nosferatu” and “Scream”. Honorable mention went to “Evil Dead” and outside of the genre, he chose “Jurassic Park”. If he could work with any master of horror from the past and/or present, he chose Wes Craven and George A. Romero. He stated Craven was his hero, prior to his passing. He went onto say he loved zombie films.
If Madrid could be in the same film with his favorite horror movie icon, he chose Freddy Krueger. He hoped to survive and defeat him, in the film. If he could pit two horror icons to fight to the death—he chose Krueger and Jason Voorhees, even though it had already been done. If he could turn back time and work on any film, he chose “Jurassic Park”.
Advice Madrid had for up-and-coming filmmakers was to remain persistent throughout, regardless of rejection or failing. Let the pitfalls fuel their passion.
