Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena to welcome Amy Schumer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Amy Schumer’s spring and summer tour will bring her to the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, on May 15. The trek will begin at Santander Arena in Reading, Pa., on April 7. It will come to an end at Madison Square Garden in New York, on June 23. She is a writer, actress and stand-up comedian.
Schumer was born on June 1, 1981 in the borough of Manhattan, in New York. In 1999, she graduated from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, N.Y.. She continued her studies at Towson University in Towson, Md. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre. She furthered her education and attended The William Esper Studio, in N.Y. She graduated from the two-year Sanford Meisner Intensive program.
After graduating from college, Schumer moved to New York City and pursued acting. She became a bartender and waitress, as she auditioned for a variety of roles. Her acting and writing credits include: “Amy Schumer: Mostly Sex Stuff” (2012), “Inside Amy Schumer” (2013) and the Golden Globe nominated “Trainwreck” (2015). In “Trainwreck”, her co-stars were: John Cena, Bill Hader, LeBron James, Brie Larson, Daniel Radcliffe and Tilda Swinton. She has also hosted NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”.
In 2015, Schumer was part of the panel of “Close Up with The Hollywood Reporter”. The roundtable was slightly over an hour long. It included: Nick Hornby (“Brooklyn”), Meg LeFauve (“Inside Out”), Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight”), Emma Donoghue (“Room”) and Aaron Sorkin (“Steve Jobs”). The footage can be accessed by clicking here.
In Jan., Judd Apatow (“The 40 Year-Old Virgin”, “Funny People”) presented Schumer with the MVP Award at the Critics’ Choice Award. He summed up the awards and accolades she had won including: the Peabody, Emmy and Critics’ Choice awards. He called her the “perfect comedian for this moment.”
Judy Gold, Jessica Kirson, Wendy Liebman, Sarah Silverman, Margaret Cho and Ellen Degeneres are Schumer’s favorite comediennes. Schumer’s book, “The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo”, will be released on August 16, 2016. It is published by the Simon & Schuster imprint, Gallery Books.
