BALTIMORE – Andre “Rude Boy” Ferrell is a father of two and currently serving in the military. He is part of the Army and has been serving for over 13 years. While balancing military and civilian lifestyles, he performs stand –up comedy. He is going on over four years.
While on stage, Ferrell’s material comes from what happens around him including: parenthood, life as a soldier and his encounters on a regular basis. While away from the stage—he enjoys making people laugh, working out, playing video games, riding his motorcycle, bowling and playing basketball.
Ferrrell’s inspiration to embark in stand-up comedy surrounded him, during his upbringing. Whether he saw it on television or in the presence of family members, laughter was present. When it came to comedians, he credited: Robin Harris, Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Dave Chappelle, Tony Roberts and Chris Rock. He enjoyed Murphy, Lawrence and Chappelle’s for the ranges of characters they portrayed.
Reminiscing about the time Ferrell first performed stand-up comedy, he remembered it being “awesome” and how fast his five minutes of stage time flew by. After parting the stage, he knew it was what he wanted to pursue and how the feeling was “incredible”.
Before the night ended, Ferrell was approached by the headliner and he was asked how long he had been performing stand-up comedy. He responded by telling him it was his first time he had performed.
“Damn, man,” the headliner responded to Ferrell. “You’re funny. Keep it up, man. I can see you going a long way with comedy.”
When Ferrell embarks on his dream tour, he chose the following four to join him: EJ Nonstop, Dave Chappelle, Donnell Rawlings and The Fat Doctor. If he were to get roasted by comedians from the past and present, he chose: Kevin Hart, Mike Epps, Tony Roberts, DeRay Davis, Robin Harris and Hannibal Buress.
Some of Ferrell’s favorite television shows include: “Martin”, “The Jamie Foxx Show”, The Wayans Bros.”, “My Wife and Kids”, “The Cosby Show”, “A Different World”, “Chappelle’s Show”, “The Carmichael Show”, “Saturday Night Live” and “MadTV”. His favorite films include: “Coming to America”, “Harlem Nights”, “Life” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”.
Ferrell recorded his first comedy album called “I Might Need Jesus”. Over the next five years, he will have performed comedy for a decade. He hopes to travel, perform stand-up comedy in sold out comedy clubs, sitcoms and in theaters worldwide.
