JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Aries Spears is set to perform stand-up comedy five times at Comedy Club of Jacksonville, from July 21 through July 23. He will perform twice on July 21 and July 22, at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. There will be one show at 7 p.m., on July 23. All have an R rating. Ticket prices range from $25 to $50.
At the age of six, Spears impersonated his family members during meals and the holidays. Eight years later—he performed at comedy clubs throughout Manhattan, N.Y.
Spears talents would lead to television appearances on Russell Simmons’ “Def Comedy Jam” and “It’s Showtime at the Apollo”. After moving to Los Angeles in 1992, he made several appearances on NBC’s “A Different World”. He appeared on three other major television networks programs including: CBS’ “South of Sunset”, Fox’s “Crosstown Traffic” and “The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.” For eight seasons, he appeared on “MAD TV”. Other television appearances include: “Soul Train”, “Loveline”, “Vibe”, “The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show”, “The Best Damn Sports Show Period”, “33rd NAACP Image Awards”, “Late Friday”, “Pyramid”, “Comedy Central Presents: The Commies”, “CSI: Miami”, “Just For Laughs”, “Last Call with Carson Daly”, “The Underground”, “Gotham Comedy Live”, “Comics Unleashed”, “Who Gets The Last Laugh?”, “Supreme Court of Comedy”, “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, “Chelsea Lately” and more. He provided voiceover work for “C-Bear and Jamal”, “The Night B4 Christmas”, “The Proud Family”, “Lilo & Stitch: The Series” and “The Boondocks”, “Black Dynamite”, “Turbo FAST”, “American Dad!” and “TripTank”.
Films Spears could be seen in were: “Home of Angels”, “Out-of-Sync”, “Jerry Maguire”, “The Pest”, “Why Do Fools Fall In Love”, “Josie and the Pussycats”, “Higher Ed”, “Love Chronicles”, “Jiminy Glick in Lalawood”, “The Proud Family Movie”, “The D” and “Promoted”. He provided the voice for three characters (Money, Jay-Z, Africans) in “Thugaboo: Sneaker Madness”. It was announced he will be in the upcoming film, “The 420 Movie: Mary & Jane”.
Serving as an executive producer and writer, Spears wrote and produced “Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I’m Smiling”. He also wrote for “Aries Spears: Comedy Blueprint”, “Chocolate Sundaes Comedy Show: Live on Sunset Strip!”, “CH Live: LA”, BET’s “ComicView”, “Comedy Central Presents”, “The Underground” and “Def Comedy Jam”.
When Spears is away from the stage and spotlight, he is involved with a variety of charitable events. Many of the causes he is involved are to provide assistance to abused women.
