LOS ANGELES - Armando D. Muñoz showcases his art through literature, film and music. Even though he specializes in horror, he believes anyone can enjoy his works.
“Hoarder” is Muñoz’s first novel. It is available on two formats, paperback and digital. His goal is to take the reader through what he calls “the ultimate house of horror”. It is currently available at hoardernovel.com. With no plans on slowing down—his next book is due out in spring and is called “Turkey Day”.
If Muñoz could collaborate with any author alive or passed on, he chose the following: Richard Bachman, Clive Barker, Poppy Z. Brite, Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft. Being an author himself, he recommended reading the following books: “Cabal” by Barker, “Men, Women And Chain Saws: “Gender In The Modern Horror Film” by Carol J. Clover, “Hoarders”, “Under the Dome” by King and “Shock Treatment” by John Waters.
Muñoz has won several awards for his short-films, as well. He has won Best in Show for “The Killer Krapper” and Most Perverted Film for “Pervula” at the Sick Puppy Film festival. “Pervula” also won the WTF! Award at Elvira’s Horror Hunt. “Mime After Midnight” won the Jury Prize at Fearless Tales Genre Fest. Pervula continued to live on and off the screen, throughout film festivals worldwide. It became Muñoz’s alter-ego and has spun records at Shriekfest’s Horror Film Festival’s Opening Night Party.
At the moment, Muñoz is working on a feature length film. It is called “The Cutters” and it is an offshoot of his first novel, “Hoarders”. It will star Lesleh Donaldson (“Happy Birthday To Me”, “Curtains”). If he could collaborate with any past or present master of horror, his dream lineup includes: Barker, Wes Craven, Sean Cunningham, King and Paul Lynch. He is in constant pursuit on bringing his dream collaborations to life. If he could cast anyone to depict him in a biopic, his choice is James Ransone (“Sinister 2”).
After working at a video store for many years, Muñoz recommended the following horror movies from the past nine decades: “Nosferatu”, “Freaks”, “Cat People”, “The Blob”, “Night of the Living Dead”, “Halloween”, “Friday The 13th", “Nightbreed”, “The Mist” and “The Lords of Salem”. He hopes to write and direct a sequel to “Halloween”. If he could pit to horror characters against each other, he chose his own creations. He picked Pervula and Crotchless Panty Face (“Panty Kill”).
