TULSA, Okla. – Blue Whale Comedy Festival is accepting submissions for 2017. It will take place from Sept. 7 through Sept. 10. From Feb. 1 at midnight Central Time to April 1 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, the submission fee is $25. It will increase to $30, from April 2 at midnight to May 1 at 11:59 Central Time. Along with the submission fee, a five minute video and application must be submitted.
Judges will view the first five minutes of video sent into Blue Whale Comedy Festival. They must be set to public and on a video hosting site such as YouTube, Vimeo, etc. Those sent as an email attachment or set to private will not be considered. The footage must be continuous. It must not be edited together from the same set or series of performances. Those who are not selected to take part will receive a promotion code to apply towards a weekend pass or headliner show.
Information needed by Blue Whale Comedy Festival are the following: name, which submission to be considered (stand-up comedy, improv group, podcast or independently produced comedy show), how the applicant discovered the festival (Facebook, Twitter, Internet, word of mouth, performed or attended the previous year, other), stage name, improv group name, podcast name, email address, best phone number to be reached, currently city, current, video link, website, Twitter handle, under 300 word biography, headshot, promo code, the amount being paid and which days available the entrant can perform.
For podcast, improve and comedy acts—one submission by one person is needed. Those planning to produce their own show at Blue Whale Comedy Festival, a description is required and be part of the 300 character biography. For an idea to which style the festivities are looking for, they encourage to look up “7 Minutes in Purgatory” and “First Comes Love”.
Those chosen to perform at Blue Whale Comedy Festival will be guaranteed at least one performance and receive word on July 1. The comedians will possibly gain more stage time. It will be determined between the time they are chosen and the start of the festival. Along with being selected to perform, comics will be listed inside the program and on their website. Also, they will receive an artist badge to attend the other comedy shows and after parties happening. Industry representatives will also be in attendance. Monetary compensation will not be distributed.
