Florida Theatre to host first night of Chris Cornell's Higher Truth U.S. tour

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Chris Cornell will be kicking off his Higher Truth U.S. tour at Florida Theatre, on June 17. The five-week expedition will wrap up at Yakima Capitol Theatre in Yakima, Wash., on July 18. He will promoting his fifth solo record, “Higher Truth”.
Over the course of Cornell’s over three decade music career, the three bands (Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave) reached multi-platinum levels for record sales. As a composer, guitarist, lyricist, philanthropist, singer and songwriter—he has won Grammy award and was nominated for a Golden Globe.
Cornell’s career began with Soundgarden. In their class of musicians in the Seattle music scene, they were the first to sign a major record deal in 1989. Since then, their discography includes seven records. In 2010, they reunited and toured. In the same year, they released “King Animal”.
In 1990—Cornell began a side project, “Temple of the Dog”. Together they release d songs including “Hunger Strike”. His fellow bandmates went onto form Pearl Jam. In the same decade, he pursued a solo career and released “Euphoria Morning”.
After the new century, Cornell joined members of Rage Against The Machine and formed Audioslave. During the stint, they released three albums and reached multi-platinum status. They would tour stadiums globally. They also performed a free concert in Cuba and they were the first American rock band to do so.
When it comes to Cornell’s celluloid contributions—his songs can be heard on “Casino Royale”, “The Avengers”, “12 Years A Slave” and “Machine Gun Preacher”. He became the first male American artist to write and perform an original song for a James Bond movie. His duet with Joy Williams, “Misery Chain”, appeared on the for “12 Years A Slave” soundtrack. The record would win an Oscar. “The Keeper” appeared on “Machine Gun Preacher” and it was nominated for a Golden Globe.
As a philanthropist, Cornell started The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation. Their ongoing mission is to raise funds and partner with charitable organizations. Their goal is to support children facing difficult obstacles including: abuse, homelessness, neglect and poverty.
