Dead Kennedys and Reagan Youth to perform at Cafe DaVinci

DELAND, Fla. – Dead Kennedys and Reagan Youth will take the stage at Cafe DaVinci, on Jan. 25. It is part of the Inauguration Week Tour in Florida. The trek will begin on Jan. 24 at Milliken’s Reef in Cape Canaveral, Fla. It concludes on Jan. 29 at The Kelsey Theater in Lake Park, Fla.
East Ray Bay is the lead guitarist, Klaus Fluoride is the bassist, D.H. Peligro is the drummer and Ron “Skip” Greer is the vocalist of Dead Kennedys. Fluoride and Peligro assist with backup vocals. They are a punk rock band with roots from San Francisco and are part of the Manifesto Records roster.
In 1978, Dead Kennedys formed as a group. Their first show took place at Mabuhay Garden, in July of 1978. Their first single, “California Über Alles, was released in 1979. “Holiday in Cambodia” was distributed, one year later. The singles, “Kill The Poor” and “Too Drunk To F**k”, followed. Their first record, “Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables”, debuted in 1980 and certified gold in Britain. Their discography also included: “Plastic Surgery Disaster”, “Frankenchrist”, “Bedtime for Democracy” and “In God We Trust, Inc.”
Paul “Cripple” Bakija is the guitarist, Tibbie X is the bassist, Rick Contreras is the drummer and A.J. Delinquent is the vocalist of Reagan Youth. They are a hardcore, punk and rock band from Rego Park, Queens, N.Y. They are part of Cleopatra Records. Their message is to promote anarchy, unity and peace.
The late, Dave Insurgent, was the original vocalist of Reagan Youth. He and Paul Cripple were the first members. The duo joined forces in high school. Their first show took place on Aug. 21, 1981 at the A7 Club. In 1984—they released the extended play (EP), “Youth Anthems for the New Order”. Four years later, “Volume I”, followed and featured seven versions of “Youth Anthems for the New Order” and three songs were added to make their first long play (LP).
Tickets for the Dead Kennedys and Youth Regan concert are $20 to $25 each. They can be purchased at Cafe DaVinci or online. Prices exclude service fees. It will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and an all ages concert. All sales are finals and no refunds will be issued. It is a rain or shine event.
