ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Duran Duran’s North America tour will make a stop at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, on March 30. They will be on tour promoting their latest album, “Paper Gods”. The tour will begin on March 25 at Niagra Fallsview Casino in Niagra Falls, Canada and will conclude on Aug. 3 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. CHIC will be accompanying them for the majority of the tour, starting on April 2.
Simon Le Bon is the vocalist, Nick Rhodes is the keyboardist, John Taylor is the bassist and Roger Taylor is the drummer of Duran Duran.
There are two versions of “Paper Gods”. One is the standard version and the other is the deluxe version. Both versions include: “Paper Gods” featuring Mr Hudson, “Last Night in the City” featuring Kiesza, “You Kill Me with Silence”, “Pressure Off” featuring Janelle Monáe and Nile Rodgers”, “Face for Today”, “Danceophobia”, “What Are The Chances?”, “Sunset Garage”, “Change The Skyline” featuring Jonas Bjerre, “Butterfly Girl”, “Only In Dreams” and “The Universe Alone”. The deluxe edition includes three additional tracks including: “Planet Roaring”, “Valentine Stories” and “Northern Lights”. For the exception of the tour stops in Niagra Falls, N.Y. and Miami, one version of the album will be included with all ticket sales.
“Paper Gods” was the 14th album of Duran Duran’s nearly 40 year career. The recording process of the album began in 2013, when they linked up with Mark Ronson and Josh Blair. Blair would go onto produce nine tracks and six were with the band. Three were collaborations with Blair, the band and Mr Hudson.
Sharing the same name as the album’s title, “Paper Gods”, Mr Hudson and Simon collaborated on the vocal duties .Simon said the song was about humanity, material things, money, obsession and how people trivialize their life. He went onto say it was the angriest song of the album and hopes their listeners interpret the lyrics in their own way. Rhodes added it was one of the strangest ones they had completed in a very long time.
