Finger Lakes Comedy Festival begins submission process

ITHACA, N.Y. – Finger Lakes Comedy Festival are accepting submissions. Stand-up comedians, improv shows and a stand-up comedy competition will take place. Venues in the downtown area will host the events; from Sept. 28 through Oct. 1.Those attending the festivities will be talent agents, bookers, and online media outlets.
Submission fee for Finger Lakes Comedy Festival is $20 and the deadline for consideration is Aug. 31. Those chosen will be announced before or on Sept.5. Along with the submission fee, the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) must be submitted. Not everyone submitting their information will be selected to perform and the fee is non-refundable. 2017’s locations for Finger Lakes Comedy Festival are The Range, Lot 10 and The Barbershop. Single show tickets are $10 each. The festival pass is $20 and the pass holder will be able to attend all events taking place at the festival. For more information about the tickets, click here.
Since 2015, Ithaca has hosted Finger Lakes Comedy Festival. In the first year—it featured comedy showcases, open mics and a comedy competition featuring 20 comedians. The venues which participated in the first annual event were: Big Times Barbershop, Lot 10, Kilpatrick’s and Chanticleer.
In 2016, the open mic portion was replaced with an improv show at Finger Lakes Comedy Festival. Talent agents were welcomed to attend. Videos and photographs were offered to purchase, in the end. Lot 10 and Acting Out NY were the establishments involved. The events took place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., from Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. Sponsors were Hotel Ithaca and Downtown Ithaca.
Industry guests for 2017 include Rob Jackel of Cutting Edge Entertainment, Theresa Johnson of Ithaca College, Lindsey Leonard of Neon Entertainment and will be announced.
Finger Lakes Comedy Festival is made possible by 2 Funny Entertainment LLC. As a talent agency, their artists perform in universities and comedy festivals throughout the U.S. Their clientele consists of stand-up comedians, musicians, poets, variety act and diversity acts. They are part of the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA). Also—they specialize in visual production including photography, video editing and videography. The staff includes Christopher Miree (owner, manager), Alisha Fregoe (talent acquisition) and Matt Cifarelli (graphic design).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sareth Ney is the journalist for A Quarter and Dream Pictures. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Center for New Media from Colorado State University-Pueblo. He is a former apprentice to master of horror, Clive Barker. He is a Wu-Tang Clan inspired superhero, Wu-Man Chu. He is an award-winning short filmmaker; his goal is to write 150 articles in select time zones, inducts every article into his hall of fame, is a stand-up comedian, motivational speaker, founder and co-host of Pueblo's Independent Multimedia Podcast and is the festival director at Sareth-Fest Music and Comedy Festival.
