What inspired you to perform stand-up comedy?
When it was my turn to present anything in school--I'd always make it a point to try and make it funny, so that class was less boring. People almost always laughed and I basically never outgrew the urge to do that.
What was the feeling like, when you first performed stand-up comedy?
Overall, it was a terrible feeling because it was my first time onstage and doing stand-up isn't what you think it is going into it. What is worth saying is that the feeling you get from your first real laugh is completely intoxicating and addicting. Imagine trying to have sex with someone. Consider how hard you worked to make that happen. Then remember that the moment you finally start having sex, you forget just how long, frustrating, or how much it really took to make it happen. You're just consumed with how good that feeling is. That's what getting a real laugh feels like and then you get offstage paranoid like, "I should've used a rubber."
What are your favorite comedy specials and record albums?
My favorite specials, just to name a few are: Dave Chappelle’s "Killin’ Them Softly" & "The Age of Spin", Patrice O'Neal’s "Elephant In The Room", Bill Burr’s "Let It Go" & "Why Do I Do This?", Louis C.K.’s "Hilarious" & "Live At The Beacon Theater" and John Mulaney’s "New in Town".
What are your favorite sketch shows, sitcoms and comedy films?
All-Time Sketch Show: “Chappelle's Show”
All-Time Sitcom: “Shameless”
All-Time Comedy: “Tropic Thunder”
If you could go on tour with any comedian, which one would you choose?
Dave Chappelle
If you could get roasted by five comedians (past or present), which ones would you choose?
I wouldn't. I feel awful I'd have to beat up my heroes for being too funny. The irony would be too much for me to handle.
Which other forms of comedy would you like to venture off into?
Whichever kind buys me a car, from the decade I'm living in.
What experience would you like for your audience to take with them, after a set is over?
Personally, I like it when a crowd leaves feeling smarter than they felt coming in.
Where do you see your comedy career, in the next five years?
What is this a date? Just be down for the ride.
