DENVER—When Joe Eddings was a child, he remembered his first encounter with comedy was watching “Dr. Demento”. Eddings looked forward to the show. It aired every Sunday and it made him think about performing stand-up comedy. He also watched “The Carol Burnett Show”. The question and answer portion at the beginning of each show stood out the most to him.
When Eddings first performed stand-up comedy, stage fright had gotten the best of him and his mind went completely blank. For the past three years—he has continued to get up on stage and tries to perform at three to four mics per week.
Favorite films of Eddings’ during his upbringing included the ones which starred Michael Keaton. Billy Crystal’s variety show, “The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour”, on NBC was also a favorite of Eddings’. It made him want to attempt sketch comedy.
If Eddings could go on tour with any comedian, he chose Patton Oswalt. Eddings chose Oswalt because of the same things they have in common. They include: being married, having kids, reading science fiction comic books and viewing the world the same way. Eddings also chose to go on tour with Steve Zane, during his earlier days of when he did perform stand-up comedy.
In the tradition of a comedy roast, Eddings would like to be roasted by the following past and present comics: Bob Newhart, Damon Wayans, Andrew Dice Clay, Ellen DeGeneres and Don Rickles.
Other forms of comedy Eddings would like to venture off into are improv and motion pictures. In the next five years, he would like to go on tour and become a household name. At the same time, there are a lot of things in his life he has to accept.
After a set of Eddings has come to an end, he hopes his audience takes with them views from what it is like to be a single parent. He wants them to see how he interacts and raises his kids in “out-of-the-box” methods. Hopefully, what he projects onto the spectators works for them too. From their viewpoint, he thinks they picture him as an “ugly rock star”, his name rings a bell and he is someone groupies would not go home with.
Online, Eddings can be friend and followed on Facebook. His YouTube channel can be found under Joe Eddings BadWolf13 and he can be followed on Instagram at Logan28th.
