KANSAS CITY, Mo. – KC Comedy Festival is returning for the second year and accepting submissions. Headliners are: Brad Ellis, James Johann also known as “The Rural Genius”, AJ Finney, Jon Schieszer and Will C. It is produced by Hat & Stache Productions.
Submission fee for consideration to take part is $25. A festival t-shirt, lanyard/badge, tickets to shows, food, drinks and entry to the afterparty will be given to those chosen to perform. The deadline is July 1. Local and national comedians can submit information, by clicking here.
Sponsors and venues of KC Comedy Festival are: All Star Grill and Bar, Blue Room Comedy Club, Stanford’s Comedy Club at the Legends, Kansas City Improv and Westport Coffee House.
In 2016, KC Comedy Festival featured: over 15 shows, at multiple venues, the “KC vs The World” comedy contest, traditional stand-up comedy showcases, others included fun and unique formats. “KC vs The World’’ consisted 30 comedians, a minimum of $1,000 prize pool was awarded to the winner, six Kansas City comedians faced off against non-Kansas City comedians and it closed out the festival. 30 national comedians were chosen and local comedian occupied the rest of the slots. Each participant received an official festival t-shirt, fed on numerous occasions, passes to every show/event, spot on the “KC vs The World” comedy contest, and at least one showcase. Local talents which were not chosen were provided the opportunity to partake during the week and compete in the contest.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sareth Ney is the journalist for A Quarter and Dream Pictures. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Center for New Media from Colorado State University-Pueblo. He is a former apprentice to master of horror, Clive Barker. He is a Wu-Tang Clan inspired superhero, Wu-Man Chu.
