PALM COAST, Fla.—Kensley Stewart performed three sets of a mixture of cover and original songs at Hammock Wine & Cheese Shoppe, on March 15. She played the electric and acoustic guitars, provided vocals and played the harmonica.
Stewart began her set by performing her own sound check. She performed a bit of Wanda Jackson’s “Funnel Of Love”, with her electric guitar. With her parents in attendance, they advised which volumes to adjust from her sound system. After taking her parents’ advice, she restarted the song and performed it completely through. Afterwards, she exchanged her electric guitar for an acoustic.
Jenny Lewis’ “Acid Tongue”, Frankie Valli and the Four Season’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”, Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen’s “Fade Into You”, Amy Winehouse’s “Love Is A Losing Game” and “Back To Black”, Mason Jennings’ “Empire Builder” and Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi” were also part of Kensley Stewart’s first set.
Prior to “Trouble”—Stewart mentioned she had an album, “Wool Gathering”, available for purchase. She indicated there were 16 original songs and spanned over two compact discs. Two spectators approached her, placed money in her tip jar and picked up an album each. As the second walked away, she sang along with Stewart.
Wanda Jackson’s “Funnel Of Love”, Jenny Lewis’ “Acid Tongue”, Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move”, Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe”, “Be My Baby”, Frankie Valli and the Four Season’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”, Carole King’s “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles’ “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me”, Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs’ “Li’l Red Riding Hood”, “The Traveler” and Mason Jenning’s “Crown” were also part of Kensley Stewart’s second set.
Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen’s “Fade Into You” closed out Stewart’s third and final set. After she concluded—she mentioned she would be performing at the St. Augustine Record Fair, on March 22. She stated there would be over 30 vendors and four musicians. She provided the hours and would be one of the musical acts. After she promoted the event, another onlooker asked if she could play one more. She declined because she had to perform another set in a different city, shortly after.
“Why Are You Lonely?”, Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good” and “Give Me Back My Soul” were some of the songs from Kensley Stewart’s final set.
