ATLANTA – Submissions for the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival are being accepted, for 2017. The festivities will take place from May 1 through May 8. The competition portion will take place from May 3 through May 6. Marshall Chiles is the festival founder and owner of the event.
There will be submission fees for the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival. Those submitted prior to Nov. 15 will cost $35, $40 until Dec. 15 and $45 for the final deadline on Jan. 15. The judges will be judging on the following criteria: delivery, material, originality and overall impression. All recordings must be between five and eight minutes in length, continuous and unedited. The comedians selected to partake in the festival will be notified on or before, Feb. 15.
Unsigned comedians from across the U.S. are selected to perform at the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, since it started eight years ago. Agents, managers and bookers attend to help elevate comedian’s careers. Past performers have appeared on several television programs and other festivals. Each showcase features around 12 comedians with two shows per night, while at the festival.
Laughing Skull Lounge, Relapse, Terminal West, Hard Rock Café, Eddie’s Attic, The Blind Pig, Red Brick Brewing Company, Smith’s Olde Bar, My Sisters Room, Village Theatre, The Drunken Unicorn, The Highland Inn Ballroom Lunge and City Winery were the venues for 2016’s the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival. Over 60 shows also took place at the locations. Prizes for the competition portion were $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, $300 for third place and $200 for fourth place.
