JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lavell Crawford will be performing on stage at the Florida Theatre, on Oct. 9. The current leg of his tour began on Aug. 13 at Comedy Connection Rhode Island in East Providence, R.I. It will conclude on Dec. 6 at the DC Improv in Washington. Stand-up comedy, actor, writer are three professions he is known for.
Film and television have showcased Crawford’s talents including: “Lavell Crawford: Can a Brother Get Some Love”, BET’s “Comic View”, “Shaquille O’Neal Presents: “All Star Comedy Jam”, “Last Comic Stand” and Huell Babineaux on “Breaking Bad”. After appearing on “Breaking Bad” and the cable program ended, he filmed a parody for “Funny or Die”. The clip can be accessed by clicking here.
Fellow comedian, Steve Harvey, hosted the Neighborhood Awards at Philips Arena. It was sponsored by Ford and it took place on Aug, 9, 2014. Before the nominees were announced by Michael Jai White (“Spawn”), Tracee Ellis Ross (“Blackish”) and David Mann (Tyler Perry’s “Meet The Browns”) for the Best High School, Crawford and Mann traded jokes with each other. Ross went onto say how her facial cheeks ache and said she could not speak, after returning to the microphone stand. The YouTube clip of the war of words can be seen by clicking here.
Crawford and a few of his comedian friends were chosen to entertain the crowd at Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis, Tenn., on Sept. 12, 2014 (The Southern Heritage Classic features the over two decade old college rivalry football game between the Jackson State University “Blue Bengal” Tigers and the Tennessee State University Tigers). The event took place at the Orpheum Theatre. Dominique, Cocoa Brown and “Jammin’” Jay Lamont were the other comics. The event was broadcasted on WMC Action News 5 and streamed live through their website.
On Nov. 15, 2014—Crawford and three of his friends joined forces to perform a comedy show at Johnny Mercer Theatre in Savannah, Ga. Cocoa Brown (Tyler Perry’s “For Better or Worse”), John Witherspoon (“Friday” trilogy) and Rudy Rush (“Showtime at the Apollo”) performed comedy for America’s heroes.
Joined by Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”), Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”), Topher Grace (“That ‘70s Show”) and John Leguizamo (“Ice Age”)—Crawford’s latest film appearance was in “America Ultra”. He played the role of “Big Harold”.
