TAMPA BAY, Fla. - MegaCon Tampa Bay will be taking place at the Tampa Convention Center, from Oct. 28 through Oct. 30. Hours of operation will be: Friday, Oct. 28 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 30 from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. Individual tickets range from $25 to $249. Prices exclude service fees and taxes. It is a multi-genre pop culture event celebrating comics, science fiction, horror and gaming. The three day event also includes costume contests, panels, shopping, workshops and more.
Guests confirmed for MegaCon Tampa Bay consist of: David Tennant (“Doctor Who” and “Jessica Jones”), Alex Kingston (“Doctor Who”), Billie Piper (“Doctor Who” and “Penny Dreadful”), William Shatner (“Star Trek”) and Karl Urban (“Star Trek”). Kingston and Urban will be present on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30. Tennant, Piper and Shatner will make appearances on Oct. 30.
Attractions taking place at MegaCon Tampa Bay will be: celebrity photo sessions, autograph sessions, question and answer panels, 100,000 square feet of vendors, artist alley, cosplayers and sketch duels. Celebrity photo sessions will be photographed by a professional photographer. Guests may charge an additional fee for autographs. Experts will answer a variety of questions at panels. Vendors will be selling an array of merchandise. Comic book inkers, pencilers and writers will occupy artist alley. Most attendees will dress up as their favorite pop culture characters. Comic book artists will compete at the sketch duel.
Andrew Moyes, show director of MegaCon Tampa Bay, touched base on the convention.
“MegaCon has a history of bringing the ultimate fan experience to the Orlando area, and we’re excited to bring our multi-genre convention to Tampa Bay,” states Moyes. “MegaCon Tampa Bay will be a family-friendly, action packed three-day event fit for fans of all pop culture categories.” More guests from animation, celebrity, comic, cosplayers and organizations will be announced.

Other conventions also include: Fan Expo Canada, Toronto ComiCon, Fan Expo Vancouver, Fan Expo Regina, Fan Expo Dallas, Dallas Fan Days and MegaCon. MegaCon Tampa Bay is the second of conventions taking place in Fla., annually. MegaCon took place earlier in the year, during Memorial Day weekend at the Orange County Convention Center. It is the largest convention in the southeast and 100,000 people attended. 30,000 are expected to attend in Tampa Bay.
