Pueblo's Independent Multimedia Podcast was an idea which was thought up by concert journalist, Sareth Ney. He reached out to fellow Colorado State University-Pueblo alumnus, Nate Baptist. Ney specialized in concert journalism, while Baptist specialized in radio. They both shared the same love for music.
After graduating CSU-Pueblo, Ney ventured out to California and Baptist remained in Colorado. Ney had a delayed start, when it came to concert journalism. Meanwhile, Baptist immediately went into the radio field. He is an executive producer/disc jockey and splits his work schedules between Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
While living in California, an opportunity opened for Ney to utilize his Mass Communications and Center for New Media degree. It was to be the Los Angeles concert journalist for a major publication and Ney submitted his college works. The dream job was his. During his tenure—he managed to write over 150 articles, cover 50 years of music and about every single genre and subgenre in the music industry.
In 2013, Ney and Baptist began rekindled their friendship. They went to NAMM in Anaheim and met up with some of their favorite musicians. It was a dream come true for the both of them, mostly for Baptist. They attended several of the Rockstar Energy Drink festival tours together.
In the fall of 2014, Ney reached out to Baptist. He asked if was interested in helping the Pueblo local music scene by starting a podcast. At first, Baptist was hesitant but he let the idea resonate in his head. They had a brief meeting and the following week, they recorded their first podcast for Pueblo's Independent Multimedia Podcast.
Pueblo’s Independent Multimedia Podcast showcases original singer/songwriters and musicians of Pueblo, Colo. The reason they will not be able to have cover musicians/bands on the podcast is because of the rules and regulations of ASCAP, BMI and others. It has branched out to comedy and will branch out to all other art forms.
Every week, Ney and Baptist will interview the many musicians Pueblo has to offer. The musicians will have another avenue to play their songs, reach new audiences and have new fans. They hope to venture off, be mobile, and interview musicians at their shows. They hope to have monthly events were musicians can meet up, network, and build their own bill. Ney and Baptist’s goal is to interview everyone that makes the Pueblo performance arts scene.
