MORRISON, Colo. – Prophets of Rage will bring the rage to the stage at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, on Sept. 07. Their expedition will begin at a venue to be determined for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, on July 19. It will conclude at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, Calif., on Oct. 16. It is dubbed as the Make America Rage Again Tour.
Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass and backup vocals) and Brad Wilk (drums and percussion); Public Enemy’s Chuck D and DJ Lord; and Cypress Hill’s B-Real consists of the super group lineup known as Prophets of Rage. Their set list consists of a combination of all three music groups.
Morello described the collective as an “elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bulls**t”. Prophets of Rage stated “dangerous times demand dangerous songs” and “No Sleep till Cleveland”, when their next performance is scheduled for the Republican National Convention. Fans of the collective have took to social networking sites with the hashtags #MakeAmericaRAGEAgain and #TakeThePowerBack.
News sources such as the Los Angeles Times called the formation as “These guys sounded like a revolution in the making” and they continued to call them “revolutionary”. Rolling Stone headline read “Prophets of Rage Set Defiant Tone at Explosive L.A.”. The author, Steve Appleford, chronicled their debut performance at Whisky A Go Go. LA Weekly penned it as “A historic event…unity, passion, anger and inspiration”.
When Prophets of Rage announced they would be playing two performances in Los Angeles, thousands of fans lined up to attend. Both of their performances sold out the Whisky A Go Go and The Hollywood Palladium. They also played one show at Warsaw Ballroom in Brooklyn, N.Y. Such as the two shows in Los Angeles, the event sold out. Soon after, the artists announced a 35+ city tour spanning North America. In each city, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to assist a local homeless charity.
Tickets for the Prophets of Rage’s upcoming outing will go on sale starting on Friday, June 10. They will be sold on LiveNation’s website at livenation.com. Each market will be sold at a different time. Those wanting to attend the dates of the upcoming trek must check for local listings for the timing. All of the dates, venues and cities of the excursion are subject to change.
