JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – REO Speedwagon travels will bring them to Florida Theatre Jacksonville, on Sept. 24. The tour will begin on Sept. 10 at Warner Theatre in Washington, take a few weeks off between certain dates and conclude on Nov. 14 at Choctaw Grand Theater.
Kevin Cronin is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Dave Amato is the lead guitarist, Bruce Hall is the bassist, Neal Doughty is the keyboardist and Bryan Hitt is the drummer and percussionist of REO Speedwagon. Amato and Hall also assist with backup vocals.
While in college and residing in Champaign, Ill., REO Speedwagon formed in 1967. Four years later, they signed their first record deal and released their self-titled album. In 1980—REO Speedwagon’s album, “Hi Infidelity”, record sales skyrocketed. It was due to the radio play of the hits “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On The Run”. Over 20 million albums were sold domestically and 40 million around the world. Later, it was certified nine times platinum and spent 15 weeks at number one on the charts.
Even though REO Speedwagon took an 11 year hiatus, they managed to release at least one album per decade. In 2007—they released the album, “Find Your Own way Home”. The lead single, “Can’t Stop Rockin’”, was written by Cronin and Styx’s Tommy Shaw. The song went onto inspire their next tour with both of the bands and .38 Special.
In Aug., REO Speedwagon and Sara Evans recorded an episode of “CMT Crossroads”. The episode will air on Sept. 19 at 10 p.m. EST.
“We met Sara Evans when REO played with Brad Paisley at the Sony Music Nashville annual cruise and we all became fast friends,” Cronin cited. “When we got the offer to do ‘CMT Crossroads’ with her we jumped at the chance to hear Sara’s sweet voice on our songs, and to put our spin on hers. Sara put me at ease right away and her energy is contagious.”
“I’ve been a huge fan of REO Speedwagon for as long as I can remember,” Evans stated. “Their song have been a part of the soundtrack of my life and I’m thrilled to be joining them on stage for ‘CMT Crossroads’. It truly is a dream come true.”
