LOS ANGELES – Steven Anthony Frazier is a musician and producer. He resides in Los Ange les and goes by the alias, “Saf Ro”, when he takes the stage. The letters of his moniker is an acronym for Steven Anthony Frazier’s Recent Observations. Genres which he classifies his music includes: alternative, electronica, funk, indie and more.
Saf Ro’s inspiration to write and produce music can be dated back to his childhood, when his parents encouraged him to do so. It was not until he discovered the music of Prince, where he felt the most love and connection to. After discovering how influential Prince’s music was, Saf Ro wanted to pursue music.
When it came to Saf Ro’s favorite studio albums, he mentioned many could be on his top five list. As of Aug. 12, he chose five in the following order: “Purple Rain” by Prince and The Revolution, “Faces” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “Revolver” by The Beatles, “Are You Experienced” by Jimi Hendrix and “The Fragile” by Nine Inch Nails. If he could be part of a music festival featuring artists from today and yesteryear, he chose: St. Vincent, Björk, Queens of the Stone Age, Erykah Badu and D’Angelo.
After being asked which musician and producer Saf Ro would like to collaborate with, he chose his fellow musician friends. His reasoning was because he wanted to create new content with new people.
Over the next five years, Saf Ro’s goals consist of: releasing five more albums, produce projects for other artists and he looks forward to where his musical journey will take him. Soon after a live performance his comes to an end, he wants the audience to take with them an experience in which they feel empowered.
