Sareth-Fest Music, Comedy and Short Film Festival takes over downtown Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – Sareth-Fest returned in 2015, from Oct. 20 through Oct. 26. It took place at Smitty’s Green Light Tavern, Damon Runyon Repertory, Phil’s Bar and Music Venue, J Michael’s Union Avenue Pub, The Downtown Bar and The Daily Grind Café.
Smitty’s Green Light Tavern featured comedy and music on Oct. 20 by: Pamla May Sterner and Otis, Ashton Plascencia, Leviticus LeDoux, DJ Roy Rumble, Nate Baptist, The Nitemare Sieve, Pueblo Improvisers Community Orchestra, Stolen Format, Cool DJ Mono, Cosmic Waste and The Chelios Condition. The Chelios Condition reunited for the festival. Alex Hennigh, vocalist, drove from Iowa to participate. Jacob Berckefeldt, bassist, quit his job in Carlsbad, N.M. to perform.
At Damon Runyon Repertory—comedy, music and a short film were presented, on Oct 21. 100% of proceeds of the date were donated to the advancement of the performing arts. I-25 Live Comedy Competition, music was by Bois D’Arc and “The Narcoleptics” was screened. Garrett Waller represented Pueblo, Colo. Ben Verbeck signified Colorado Springs, Colo. Waller and Verbeck joined forces, for their sketch. Team I-25 All-Stars was formed by Patrick Butkovich, Randall Chadwick and Sterner. Kyle Burtman, E.D. Miller, A.A. Becerril, William Montgomery and Katie Bowman made up Team Denver. Waller won best monologue and Team Denver won best sketch.
Phil’s Bar and Music Venue hosted a night of hip-hop with dance/electronica and rock, on Oct 22. Artists included: DJ Mista B, BarFlys, Con & Boogs, Despicable Dialects, The Myth of Logik, Horrifik Kreationz, Raymond Writer, Sever Truth, DJ Twitch, Russ Hayes and Thoz 1 Guyz.
J Michael’s Union Avenue Pub featured music and comedy, on Oct. 23. George Samaras, Scott Limardo, The Ragetones, The Porter Draw, It’s A Trade Thing, Family Juls Trio, Verbeck, Dave Frost and John Brown were on the bill.
Dead End Stompers, Mecha Mâché, Into Awakening, Myth Of Creation, Piojos, Ashes of the Ancient, Creep Status, Burns Like Hell, Bridges, Scrotus, Six Feet Of Anger and Commerce of Cadavers rocked Phil’s Bar and Music Venue, on Oct. 24. Funds were raised for Rick Muniz and Chris Forsythe’s GoFundMe campaigns.
On Oct. 25—Häj Päj, Death By Cemetery, FreeForm, Sonic Vomit, Butkovich, Paul Rosales and John Bueno performed at The Downtown Bar. All original members of Death By Cemetery reunited. Funds were raised for Nathan Schneider’s memorial fund.
GrimLock, Kimberly Sewell and RIki Takaoka closed the festival at The Daily Grind Café, on Oct. 26.

Sareth Ney is the entertainment journalist for A Quarter and Dream Pictures. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Center for New Media from Colorado State University-Pueblo. He is a former apprentice to master of horror, Clive Barker.
