JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Shattered Sun was one of the opening acts at Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville, on April 26. The ReverbNation winner, Starset and Butcher Babies were also the opening acts. Hatebreed was the direct support and All That Remains was the headliner on the ReverbNation Stage powered by Hundred Handed.
Henry Garza is the keyboardist and sampler, Marcos Leal is the vocalist, Daniel Trejo and Jessie Santos are the guitarists, Robert Garza is the drummer and Joseph Guajardo is the bassist of Shattered Sun.
Leal wasted no time and requested for a circle pit from the fans, before Shattered Sun began their performance with “Awaken”. The center of the general admission area became the vortex of it all, as spectators did as he demanded.
Prior to “Hope Within Hatred”—Leal introduced Shattered Sun and mentioned they were from Alice, Texas. He went onto speak of the love they received for the song on Sirius/XM’s channel, Liquid Metal. He went onto dedicate the song to the host, Jose Mangin. He followed by stating if the audience loved the track; he encouraged them to meet up with the band at the Victory Records tent to interact with them. An instrumental followed shortly after and Garza assisted with backup vocals, during the chorus.
Prior to “Reign Over Me”, Leal reminded the audience Shattered Sun would be interacting with their fans at the Victory Records tent. Then, they ended their performance with “Dead Set”. After the song came to an end, Santos threw a CD and Garza threw one of his drum sticks into the crowd. As the guitar sounds continued to screech through the speakers and the last set of drum strikes brought an end to the set, Leal introduced the band one more time and said they looked forward to seeing them soon.
“Raging War”, “Victory Of Death” and “The Ultimatum” were also part of Shattered Suns’ set.
Other notable and scheduled performances occurred on April 25, at Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville included: Like A Storm, Nonpoint, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, Queensrÿche, Ministry, Marilyn Manson, World Gone, Sangre, Upon A Burning Body, Beartooth, Periphery, The Devil Wears Prada, Stars In Stereo, Hollywood Undead, Of Mice & Men, Halestorm, Slayer, KoЯn, Red Sun Rising, Sons of Texas, Fozzy, Exodus, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies and three performances by Metalachi. Due to the circumstances of the weather, some acts were unable to perform.
