PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Silversun Pickups will swing by to perform at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, on Jan. 10. It will be their fifth and final tour date of the Fla. tour, with the first beginning on Jan. 06 at 97X Free For All in Saint Petersburg. They will be on tour promoting their latest album, “Better Nature”.
Brian Aubert is the guitarist and vocalist, Nikki Monninger is the bassist, Joe Lester is the keyboardist and Christopher Guanlao is the drummer of Silversun Pickups.
“Better Nature” is the first album released by Silversun Pickups, in more than three years. It was produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles). It was mixed and engineered by GRAMMY® Award-winning mix engineer, Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Royal Blood). It was the second time Lee and Silversun Pickups collaborated. The first was when they worked on 2012’s “Neck of the Woods”. “Better Nature” was released through New Machine Recordings.
New Machine Recordings is the name of Silversun Pickups’ record label. The name comes from the track, “…All The Go Inbetweens”, from their “PIKUL” (2005) EP. After they returned to Calif. from a two year tour, Aubert and Lester began working on the new album. Aubert described the early stages of the writing process as “a series of extremely stripped down demos”, “mostly wordless” and “hints of melody and sound”.
30 days total was the amount of time Silversun Pickups spent to record the album, “Better Nature”. The process began from Oct. 2014 and finished at the start of Jan. 2015. The recording sessions were recorded in five hour intervals. They described it as “short, sharp sessions”. Each song was rehearsed to the best of their abilities, stored by memory and they went onto press record. There was nothing to catch them to catch their mistakes. The recording method was pure and organic.
10 tracks makeup “Better Nature” including: “Cradle (Better Nature)”, “Connection”, “Pins & Needles”, “Friendly Fires”, “Nightlight”, “Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)”, “Tape Deck”, “Latchkey Kids”, “Ragamuffin” and “The Wild Kind”. “Nightlight” and “Circadian Rhythm” are the featured singles from the most recent album.
