SLO Comedy Festival opens submissions

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – SLO Comedy Festival will be taking place from March 2 through March 5 and is accepting submissions. Fremont Theater, Mission Theater, Marston’s Bar & Grill, Spike’s Pub, Mother’s Tavern, Steynberg Gallery and Creeky Tiki are the venues hosting the event. It is produced by Rebel Rousers Entertainment.
40 comedians will be chosen for the seventh annual SLO Comedy Festival. The deadline to submit material is Jan. 8 and the lineup will be revealed on Jan. 19. The submission fee is currently $40 and will increase by $5 increments each month, as the deadline approaches. The form to be filled out can be accessed by clicking here.
Along with the submission fee and form, a committee panel will review a five minute video. It can be a continuous set or a “best of” compilation. A hotel room will be provided for the comedian. If the entrant would like to share a room or bring someone with, a $100 room voucher will be available. For frequently asked questions, click here.
Comedy shows taking place on March 2 at SLO Comedy Festival include: Joke Tasting, Pure Stand Up, Throwback and the Kick Off Party. March 3 festivities are as follow: Gluten Free Comedy, Comedy Lounge, Battle of the Sexes, Pure Stand Up, Café Hilarity, 90 Minute Abs, Only the Nasty Survive and Poisoned. On March 4, events consist of: SLOcase, Gluten Free Comedy, Comedy Lounge, Battle of the Sexes, Chuckle Chasers, Pure Stand Up, Café Hilarity, 90 Minute Abs, Only The Nasty Survive and Poisoned. Two events, Best of the Fest and Wrap Party, will bring everything to a close on March 5.
Each comedy show at SLO Comedy Festival have a rating of “LR” for some hard language, “R” for hard language and “ADULT” for strong adult content. Those 17 and under will not be admitted to the some hard language and hard language performances, without a parent or guardian. Up to seven comedians will perform at each showcase. Individual tickets range from $0 to $25, theater pass is $69, are subject to a processing fee and all sales are final. For individual dates, times, ratings and venues—please click here.

Sareth Ney is the journalist for A Quarter and Dream Pictures. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Center for New Media from Colorado State University-Pueblo.
