CHICAGO – Snubfest Comedy Festival is in the process of accepting submissions for 2017. The deadline for applications is April 17. Festival dates are from June 20 through June 25. Sketch comedy, stand-up comedy, storytelling and solo performances are welcome to submit. It is sponsored by Under The Gun Theater and Zanies Comedy Club. Media sponsor is Rooftop Comedy.
Stand-up comedians and solo performers are provided five minutes for their set at Snubfest Comedy Festival. Storytellers and sketch troupes are given eight minutes.
Every performance at Snubfest Comedy Festival will be a contest. Judges in the comedy industry are set to present awards to the winners of the sketch comedy, stand-up comedy, storytelling and solo categories. Those judging each category are “major and well renowned”. They represent stand-up, improv and sketch theaters in Chicago.
Former comedians of the past Snubfest Comedy Festival are welcome to resubmit again. The person who won the “Last Snob Standing” in the previous years will not be considered. However, they are encouraged to become an alumni host by emailing Angie McMahon at [email protected]. McMahon is the creator of the fest. She is the executive director of Under The Gun Theater.
Slots are limited to take part at Snubfest Comedy Festival and many can get disregarded. Michael Palascak is an example and he filmed a Comedy Central special. Any other questions needed to be answered shall be directed to McMahon via email and allow five days to receive a response email. If there is no reply, senders should attempt to send the email again.
In the past, Snubfest Comedy Festival was part of Chemically Imbalanced Comedy. The price of submission used to be the same price as a postage stamp. As it grew and attention was drawn to it, more work had to be done. The current amount requested was to cover any upcoming administrative costs of labor.
Submission fee to take part in Snubfest Comedy Festival is $20. Payments accepted are Paypal, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and by bank account. Information needed to fill out the application are the following: name, email, Paypal payment confirmation number, which category the person is applying for (stand up, sketch comedy featuring two people or more, solo sketch and storytelling), a video link to a past performance and the current city of the applicant.
