Sponge - "stop the bleeding"

FADE FROM VIEW – The opening instrumental and overall sound is quite futuristic and post-apocalyptic. The lyrics remind me of what a zombie would say and feel, as if it could talk and think.
LIFE’S BITTER PILLS – The first thing that comes to mind as I listen to the lyrics are a harsh reminder of the side effects of what prescription drugs can do to someone. I also think of the difficulties and obstacles that life hands us and how we choose to deal with them.
DANCE FLOOR – The piano and guitar complement each other quite well, in the opening sequence. I can definitely see this song as being the one for the wallflowers at a dance. Not so much in a club sequence but more like a school dance, of some sort, in a coming-of-age movie. Perhaps, it could be played during the last dance.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING OUTSIDE – The song title softly spoken in the opening portion definitely caught my attention right away. Then, the echoes followed each lyric. The echoes seemed to drown out, by the second verse. It is definitely catchy. There is definitely an Electronic Dance Music instrumental sequence during the bridge, which seems to be the common thread with the majority of the song. The final instrumental reminds me of a mariachi guitarist.
TIME IN A BOTTLE – The repeated distorted sound of the lyrics and instrumental definitely brings an interesting twist to this cover. The intense instrumental with aggressive vocals definitely brings something different to this Jim Croce classic.
DARE TO BREATHE – This song is definitely for the courageous ones, whom would sacrifice something small in order to gain something more. Someone who would make a single moment last a lifetime. Especially, something they feel passionate about.
DESTROY THE BOY – This song is for the small town folks, with big city dreams. Especially, those who seek fame and fortune and find out it can be lonely. They might find their big city dreams to come true but it would cost them something more they could ever get back. That something would be time.
COME IN FROM THE RAIN – The title reads like a continuation of the “What Were You Doing Outside” and the lyrics sounds like a continuation of “Life’s Bitter Pills”. The guitar solo is quite similar to the great solos of the 80s, minus the teased-lengthy hair.
STAR – It has the same style of “What Were You Doing Outside”, with the same distorted repeated lyrics, during the introduction. I could definitely picture a couple sitting on the hood of a car, with their backs on the windshield, in a scenic view on Mulholland Drive, on a clear night, as he points to the night sky and he sings the chorus to his date.
BEFORE THE END - It brings closure to the album, as the mode reminds me of “Fade From View”. Perhaps, minutes before the end of the world and having reached the end of the world, as far as distance goes. Especially, when he sings about having their feet touch the sand and with nowhere to go and when the album is put on repeat—it brings the storytelling back around again, as it complements the first track.
