Spooky Empire to showcase horror filmmakers

ORLANDO, Fla. – Spooky Empire Rock N Roll, Horror, Halloween, Tattoo and Film Festival will take place at Orange County Convention Center, from Oct. 7 through Oct. 9.The film festival portion is sponsored by Fearhaus and Crypt TV. It will be hosted by Fearhaus’ Blair Bathory. The festival will be celebrating 11 years and attracts over 15,000 visitors annually. Celebrity guests who have attended include George A. Romero (“Night of the Living Dead”), Tony Todd (“Candyman”) and more.
Short and feature-length horror films are encouraged to be submitted to the portion of Spooky Empire Rock N Roll, Horror, Halloween, Tattoo and Film Festival. They are seeking independent filmmakers from around the world. Submission fees for micro-short films (60 seconds to 10 minutes) will be $5, short films (11 minutes to 30 minutes) is $15 and feature films (31 minutes or more) is $40. Filmmakers submitting their works will be notified on Sept. 4, if they have been accepted.
The main genre groups of the Spooky Empire Rock N Roll, Horror, Halloween, Tattoo and Film Festival include: horror/supernatural, science fiction, animation, thriller/suspense, cult/ bizarre/genre-defying/experimental and documentaries with a genre related or cult/bizarre matter.
Audience choice awards for best overall film will be awarded to feature and short films. A poll will be conducted with those attending the screenings. Award categories are: best feature, best short film, best international film, best special effects, audience choice, Florida spotlight and Fearmaker of the year.
Eligibility requirements for those wanting to enter their work into Spooky Empire Rock N Roll, Horror, Halloween, Tattoo and Film Festival are: all should be completed after Jan. 1, 2014, rough cuts and those still in progress will not be considered, they must not have been submitted to the festival prior, the language in the films must be English or subtitled in English and they must be in the time frames of each film duration.
Regular deadline for the films to be accepted at Spooky Empire Rock N Roll, Horror, Halloween, Tattoo and Film Festival is Aug. 21.
