PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Suzanne Vega will embark on a U.S. tour starting at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, on Oct. 16. She will perform one more time in Fla., take a few weeks off, continue her tour in Calif. and finish on Nov. 16 at City Winery in New York.
After taking a few weeks off from Vega’s performances in Fla., she will head out to Calif. and accompany Duncan Sheik on a cross country tour. The theme of the tour is for them to celebrate the city of New York and they titled it “Songs From New York City: From Bleecker Street to Broadway”. Vega will be performing many hits, including “Tom’s Diner”. Sheik will perform his hits as well, including “Barely Breathing”.
In 2011—Vega and Sheik collaborated on songs featured on the Off Broadway musical, “Carson McMullers Talks About Love”. In 2012—they toured together as well and performed in front of sold out crowds at New York’s Highline Ballroom, on more than one occasion.
Vega’s most recent album, “Tales from the Realm of the Quean of Pentacles”, was released in 2014. It was her 12th studio album, after a seven-year hiatus. In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 37 and it was the first to be in the Top 40 since 1992’s record, “99.9F°”. It was recorded under her own label, Amanuensis Productions. It was distributed under Aimee Mann’s label, Superego, in the U.S.
The album, “Tales from the Realm of the Quean of Pentacles”, was recorded at three N.Y. studios. They include Clubhouse Studios, Kyserike Station and One East Studios. Also—it was recorded at Studio Disk Barrandov in Prague, Czech Republic and produced by Gerry Leonard.
Tracks of “Tales from the Realm of the Quean of Pentacles” include: “Crack In The Wall”, “Fool’s Complaint”, “I Never Wear White”, “Portrait of the Knight of Wands”, “Don’t Uncork What You Can’t Contain”, “Jacob and the Angel”, “Silver Bridge”, “Song on the Stoic”, “Laying on the Hands/Stoic 2” and “Horizon (There is a Road)”. For “I Never Wear White”, Vega encouraged her fans participation to lip-sync, record it in the process and submit it.
