WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – Swervin Ervin’s inspiration to perform stand-up comedy came to him when he was around the age of six years old. He remembered watching a syndicated episode of “Comics Come Home”. Out of all the comedians he saw performing their routine; he remembered the late Robin Williams’ set being the most memorable out of all. After the experience, Swervin Ervin wanted to experience the feeling Williams’ had felt and he was destined to try it out for himself.
When Swervin Ervin first brought his stand-up comedy material to the stage, he remembered blacking out and could barely remember what had transpired. He did recall the fact he received a standing ovation.
Comedy specials and record albums Swervin Ervin listed as his favorites were all of Doug Stanhope’s including: “Word of Mouth”, “Deadbeat Hero”, “Oslo – Burning the Bridge to Nowhere”, “Before Turning the Gun on Himself”, “Beer Hall Putsch” and “No Place Like Home”. Comedy Central’s “This Is Not Happening” was Swervin Ervin’s favorite television program and he went onto state he watched it religiously.
If Swervin Ervin could go on tour with comedians, he selected those who were in 2012’s “The Unbookables”. The cast included: Andy Andrist, Brett Erickson, James Inman, Kristine Levine, Travis Lipski, Sean Rouse and Brendon Walsh. Co-executive producer, Stanhope, was also mentioned and Swervin Ervin continued to say it would be an honor. In the form of a comedy roast, he cited he was not a big fan of them. However—if he could get roasted by a set of past and present comedians, he chose the following: Stanhope, Bill Burr, Mitch Hedberg and Patrice O’Neal.
Other forms of comedy Swervin Ervin plans to venture off into are directing his own comedy show or motion picture. In the next five years, he hopes to continue to perform his stand-up comedy routines at various venues and says it is cool enough for him.
After Swervin Ervin’s performances come to a close, he hopes the audience takes with them the fact they can turn any tragedy into a comedy. No matter what they go through in life, he encourages them to hang in there and have fun with every situation.
At the moment, Swervin Ervin’s online and social media presence can be found on Facebook by clicking here. He considers himself a damn good stand-up comic and he is willing to fight for the little guy.
