House of Blues to welcome The Roots

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Roots will perform at House of Blues, on Dec. 29. It will be their last of three Dec. performances. The first will begin at House of Blues in Boston, on Dec. 26. The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, Md. will host the second date on Dec. 27.
Black Thought is the vocalist, Questlove is the drummer, Kamal Gray is the keyboardist, F. Knuckles is the percussionist, Captain Kirk Douglas is the guitarist, Tuba Gooding, Jr. is the sousaphone and tuba player and Mark Kelley is the bassist of The Roots. While performing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”—James Poyser accompanies them on keyboard, David Guy and Ian Hendrickson-Smith are the horn players. Poyser also accompanies on special performances, as well.
In 1987, The Roots formed in Philadelphia. They were influenced by Hezekiah, Heiruspecs, Metabass ‘N Breath, Clear Soul Forces, Mick Jenkins, WZRD, BADBADNOTGOOD, Gym Class Heroes, Metermaids and Tah Phrum Duh Bush. They influenced such artists as A Tribe Called Quest and The Jungle Brothers.
“How I Got Over”, “Undun”, “Wake Up!” with John Legend, “Rising Down!”, “Things Fall Apart” , “Game Theory”, “…And Then You Shoot Your Cousin”, “The Tripping Point”, “Do You Want More?!!!??!”, “Wise Up Ghost” with Elvis Costello, “Phrenology”, “Home Grown! The Beginners Guide to Understanding The Roots”, “Illadelph Halflife”, “Betty Wright”, “Home Grown! The Beginners Guide to Understanding The Roots Volume One”, “Organix”, “Home Grown! The Beginners Guide to Understanding The Roots Volume Two”, “From The Ground Up were The Roots studio records. Live albums include “The Roots Come Alive” and “iTunes Live from SoHo” with John Legend. In 2015—San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, George Manahan and The Roots collaborated on “Ask Your Mama”.
From Oct. 1 through Oct. 2, Roots Picnic took place at Bryant Park in New York City. The Roots headlined, along with: D’Angelo, John Mayer, Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne and Nile Rodgers. Over 30 artists were involved.
Doors for The Roots concert will open at 7:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $57.50 to $122.75. The prices exclude facility and service charges. There will be no refunds, exchanges or cancelations. Tickets will be made available to purchase for the general public, on Nov. 18 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
