DENVER – “The World Has No Eyedea” will be displayed at The Oriental Theater, on Sept. 1. It is the second of a handful of screenings announced. Live performance at the Colo. premiere will feature DJ Abilities and Carnage The Executioner. Tickets for the film and concert will cost $20. Entry for the concert alone will be $10.
The next showing will be the 2016 Hip-Hop Film Festival inside The National Black Theater in New York, on Aug. 3. The fifth location and date will be at Brewviews Cinema Pub & Club in Salt Lake City, on Sept. 20. Airings in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Calif., Reno, Nev., Olympia, Wash. and Seattle are to be announced.
St. Anthony Main Theatre in Minneapolis held the world premiere of “The World Has No Eyedea”, on April 18. It was one of the official selections at the 2016 Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival. Three days later, a second run was shown because the first showing tickets had sold out. Another Minneapolis theater, Capri Theater, showcased the film on May 5. Since going on a film festival run, it won the platinum award at the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards.
Through crowdfunding, “The World Has No Eyedea” was produced independently. It was a documentary about Michael “Eyedea” Larsen. In the award winning documentary, it chronicled the many aspects of Larsen’s life including: a freestyle battle rapping champion, a guitarist, break dancer, lead vocalist of a punk band, multi-genre music artist, philosopher, poet, supportive friend and underground hip-hop legend.
With the extra footage, Brandon Crowson made a web series about Larsen’s life. DJ Abilities, Atmosphere’s Slug, Joey Vadnais (family friend), Averill, Elena (ex-girlfriend), Carnage The Executioner, Sammy Warm Hands, J-Sun and Felipe Cuauhtli make appearances.
