Comedy Zone-Jacksonville to welcome

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tom Arnold will be performing stand-up comedy at the Comedy Zone-Jacksonville, from Sept. 8 through Sept. 10. He will be performing one show on Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and two showcases (7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.) on Sept. 9 and Sept. 10. Tickets prices range from $20 to $25. He is an actor, producer, stand-up comedian and writer.
Arnold was born on March 6, 1959 in Iowa. While attending the University of Iowa, he began his career in comedy in 1983. In 1998, he won the Minneapolis Comedy Competition. Shortly after relocating to Los Angeles, he began his television and film career.
“Roseanne” was the first comedy television series Arnold was part of. He began as a writer and would later move up to become the executive producer. Then—he starred in his own Home Box Office (HBO) special, “Tom Arnold: The Naked Truth”. Afterwards—he wrote, produced and starred in the following television shows: “The Jackie Thomas Show”, “Tom” and “The Tom Show”.
Films Arnold is known for consist of: “Nine Months”, “True Lies”, “Hero”, “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery”,
“Grassroots”, “Madea’s Witness Protection”, “Hit and Run”, “Soul Plane” and more.
Comedic material in which Arnold draws from includes his life spent in Middle America, his marriages and his encounters in Hollywood, Calif. Showtime aired his comedy special “That’s My Story And I’m Sticking To It!”, on Dec. 31, 2011.
As Arnold’s entertainment career continues to blossom in Los Angeles, he continues to give back to his home state of Iowa and is a philanthropist to a variety of charities. At the Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, he runs an acting workshop for students and a writing scholarship for those wanting to further their education. The charities he is involved in are: Arnold’s Inner City Games, Best Buddies, Camp del Corazon, Carousel of Hope, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Promises Foundation, The Kayne Eras Center, The Race to Erase MS, Special Olympics, The Hollenbeck Christmas Giveaway and USO.
Currently, Arnold continues to host “Laughing with the Stars” at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood, Calif. He also hosts “My Big Redneck Wedding” and My Big Redneck Vacation” on the cable network, CMT. He will be present in the upcoming films: “Dead Ant”, “Undateable John”, “Landline”, “Maximum Impact”, “1 Interrogation” and “Despicable Me 3”.
