Tramped By Turtles and The Devil Makes Three trek brings them to Mavericks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Trampled By Turtles and The Devil Makes Three’s spring tour will take them to Mavericks, on May 13. The trek begins at The National in Richmond, Va., on May 4. It will come to an end at The NorVa in Norfolk, Va., on May 19.
David Simonett is the lead vocalist and guitarist, Tim Saxhaug is the bassist, Dave Carroll is the banjoist and Ryan Young is the fiddler of Trampled By Turtles. Saxhaug, Carroll and Young are the harmony vocalists. They are from Duluth, Minn. and are part of the Banjodad Records roster. They will be promoting their most recent album, “Wild Animals”.
“Wild Animals” was Trampled By Turtles’ seventh studio album—since they formed on April 4, 2003. It was their first time working with a producer, after working independently on their last four releases. Alan Sparhawk, vocalist and guitarist of Low, produced the Long Play (LP). It was engineered by B.J. Burton (Polica, Megafaun, Volcano Choir) and it was recorded at Pachyderm Studio (Nirvana, The Jayhawks) in Cannon Falls, Minn.

Lucio Turino is the bassist and Pete Bernhard and Cooper McBean are the guitarists of The Devil Makes Three. They share vocal duties. Their style of music consists of a combination of bluegrass, folk and country. They hail from Santa Cruz, Calif. and they are part of the New West Records roster. Their influences include: The Reverend Gary Davis, Steve Earle, Iron Maiden, Django Reinhardt, Sleep, Bling Willie Tell, Dave Van Ronk and Doc Watson.
“I’m a Stranger Here” was The Devil Makes Three’s latest album and it was released on Oct. 29, 2013. It featured 10 tracks and they consist of: “Stranger”, “Worse or Better”, “Forty Days”, “A Moment’s Rest”, “Dead Body Moving”, “Hallelu”, “Hand Back Down”, “Spinning Like a Top”, “Mr. Midnight” and “Goodbye Old Friend”.

Sareth Ney is the entertainment journalist for A Quarter and Dream Pictures. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Center for New Media from Colorado State University-Pueblo. He is a former apprentice to master of horror, Clive Barker.
