ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.—ZZ TOP and Jeff Beck will accompany each other at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, on May 9. It will be the seventh of eight concert series of the collaboration. The first will take place at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas and the last will happen at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on May 10 in Alpharetta, Ga.
With the Beards ‘N Beck Tour, Beck and ZZ Top will be collaborating on a total of three different occasions. The first occurred when ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons accompanied Beck and his band, during the 25th anniversary of the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. It was in 2009 at New York’s Madison Square Garden and performed The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s “Foxy Lady” and ZZ TOP’s “Rough Boy”. Secondly—Beck joined ZZ Top in Italy and performed “La Grange”. The third will when they embark on the eight city tour.
ZZ TOP is known as the “longest running major rock band with original personnel intact”. In Houston of 1969—Gibbons’ band, Billy’s Moving Sidewalks, merged with Dusty Hill and Frank Beard’s band, Dusty’s American Blues. During their 40 plus year career—they released 15 albums, on several different record labels and have a loyal international fan base. In 2004, they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. The last studio album, “La Futura”, was their 15th record. It was released in 2012 and distributed by American Recordings.
Born in Wallington, England—Beck was surrounded by music of all genres including his mother’s piano playing, radio being tuned to dance music and classical. It went onto inspire his style of playing music. In 1965, he took over the lead guitar role for the Yardbirds and replaced Eric Clapton. His 40 plus year career went onto inspire the genres of hard rock, jazz fusion, rockabilly, techno and many more. He has won multiple Grammy® Awards and has been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame two times.
