Well, this is my fifth book (since June 12, 2012). I will inscribe it to my favorite imaginer, Clive Barker.
It is the William Blake edition and he is an inspiration to Clive. Originally, I gave him my first book (that he gave me) but he gave it back (after he drew and autographed in it).
I know some of you all might not like Horror-Fiction because it scares you. “Hell” the real world scares us but we cannot always hide from our fears (If I was always afraid, I wouldn’t be where I am today). Take another gander at Clive’s stories and films. You’ll realize that his so-called “monsters” were provoked or misunderstood, like many of us (the common threads).
After I read “The Thief of Always”, I could relate to Harvey Swick. After I read “The Hellbound Heart” and watched “Hellraiser”, I could relate to the cenobites because I am an angel to some and demon to others. After I read “The Forbidden” and watched “Candyman”, I learned that love can come from anywhere and looked down upon. After I watched “Nightbreed”, I learned that some humans are the real monsters. After I read and watched “The Midnight Meat Train”, I could relate myself to Leon (but in Los Angeles). After I watched “Valerie on the Stairs”, I saw myself as Rob Hanisey.
There are common threads in all of those mentioned prior: 1) The grass is not ALWAYS greener on the other side. 2) Do not be intimidated by someone who has facial piercings or “body modifications” (Unless it is a facelift, plastic surgery or botox). 3) If you fall in love with someone that is not to anyone else’s standards, screw them! 4) “God is an astronaut, Oz is over the rainbow and Midian is where the monsters live.” 5) I continue to take pictures of the good, the bad, and the ugly side of Los Angeles (Hopefully, New York). 6) I will continue to write and discover the many mysteries in life, even if it kills me.
How Clive draws inspiration from William is the same way I draw inspiration from Clive. He continues to influence my writing style. He has taught me to write about many genres, so I won’t get stuck in one. That’s why you’ll read Soft Rock in one article and Death Metal in the next. His inspiration shows up in my fiction, as well. I can make you laugh your ass off in one story and scare the shit out of you in another.
One day, I hope to inspire someone as much as he continues to inspire me. I would like to share my knowledge, as he has done with me during our hellbound heart-to-hellbound heart conversations.
